Memorial Day weekend pictures

We had a fantastic Memorial Day weekend. Sunday was spent hanging out with Tim and Katie and all the kiddos. We had a picnic at Eagle Point Park then went for ice cream afterward. Thanks Tim & Katie for treating us!!! Then later that evening we had a fantastic dinner at their house. Corn on the cob, grilled food, Katie's yummy cooking. Can't go wrong.

Monday Kyle got to make his first official Cub Scout appearance in uniform as he walked in the parade. It was neat to see him doing something he enjoys and hopefully being a scout will be good for him.

The house project is still moving forward nicely. We got the call today that our cabinets and countertop are in and will be delivered tomorrow morning. I can't wait!!!! Painting began today as I put the primer on this morning and will hopefully be getting color on the walls this evening. SO exciting see the progress move forward! The contractors are almost done with all the house roofs and will be starting on the garage soon. Today they finished up all the little roofs above porches and whatnot on the house. After the garage gets done then we'll be getting the boot out of the house so they can do the windows, exterior doors, smoke detectors, and whatever else they are doing inside. I'm a total homebody so being out of the house for any legnth of time drives me bonkers but the kids and I are going to go stay with Dad during that time and that'll be fun.

Well, LOTS to get done tonight so I better wrap this up. Just wanted to share some of the pictures from this weekend. You can click on them to make them bigger if they are hard to see on here. I have tons more but haven't had a chance to go through them yet. Have a great night everyone!

Sneak Peek

Here's a little sneak peek of the work that's happened so far and the cupboards and countertop that we've chosen for the new kitchen. I think I'll be painting soon. Can't wait!!! Although deciding on a color has been hard for me. I'm thinking about sticking with neutral colors for the sake of resale down the road but I'm such a fan of color that doing that is hard for me. lol
I'm not so sure now about the copper ceiling that we had started to put in before the project. I'm worried about it being too dark. But I'm also not really wanting boring old white ceilings so I'm not sure what to do. If you have a suggestion feel free to leave me a comment on here. I'm open to ideas!

new layouts

Wanted to share this new layout of Mason and this 2 page spread of my little pirates.

The work is underway!

The work on the house is in full swing now. Three of the 4 sides of our roof have new underlayment and shingles on. They are working on the small roof between Kyle and Eve's rooms right now. Rain is predicted tomorrow so I'm guessing they won't start tearing off the south side of the roof until Friday.

Jason has been working hard on the kitchen. The old cupboards are gone and I'm THRILLED!!!! I was so happy to see them go. Our neighbor Gus came over to help with demolition and then came back to hang up new drywall. We owe him BIG! Our other neighbor Geoff is also pitching in and has helped out with mudding and taping. I think he's coming over tonight to sand and do another coat of mud. Jason's step-brother Mike has also been a huge help. Jason got the wiring and plumbing all done and ready to go. The new cupboards and countertop are ordered and I can't wait to see this all come together. Today's project is to pick a paint color for the room. I keep going back and forth between the colors and haven't been able to make up my mind. The entire layout of the kitchen is going to be different from before. We will have a 'L' shaped kitchen and the sink and fridge are both changing their location.

They expect that we'll need to be relocated around the 1st of the month. I was hoping they would wait until after the 6th because then Kyle would be done with school making it easier for us to be out of our routine. Oh well. Still not sure where we'll be going but I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. We shouldn't be out of the house as long as I orginally thought so that's good news. Just long enough for them to install the new windows and paint the trim around them. From talking to the contractor is sounds like maybe 2 weeks at the most assuming we don't have weather delays.

I've been busy trying to get things cleaned up around here and organized so that our stuff will be out of the way when they go to do the windows. It's hard finding a place for everything though when each and every room will be having work done on it. I've been throwing things away left and right and it feels good to eliminate some of the clutter. Once the grant project is done and over and the inspections have taken place, etc. we'll switch our focus to removing the wall between the living room and the office. That'll be another big project but one I'm anxious to see happen. Can't wait to have more open space and a functional living room! I am more than happy to give up this office room to have a bigger living room. And let's be honest, making this house a 4 bedroom house instead of a 5 really isn't a big deal. Most families don't need a 5 bedroom house these days.

Well, I suppose I'd better get moving on my to-do list. Just wanted to give you all an update. :)

Our new cuts!

Jenevieve and I got our hair cut this morning. No tears from either of us! :)

Jenevieve LOVES her shorter cut and I think she looks adorable in it. It was a fun mother/daughter thing to do together. Tomorrow we'll make a trip to the post office to mail our hair to Locks Of Love. I'm looking forward to washing mine and styling it myself tomorrow. For now I'm leaving it the way the stylist did it but I think I'd like it just a bit different. It'll be fun to play around. Here are the scrapbook pages I did of our day together. Have a great night everyone!

a few more

Guess I've scrapped more lately than I realized. LOL Here's a few more.

Recent Scrapbook Pages

Here are some of the recent scrapbook layouts I've done. Various events and pictures. I blocked out the faces of Kyle's friends since I don't have premission to post them on the internet. Enjoy!

It's official!!!!

Jenevieve and I have an appointment for tomorrow morning to both get our hair cut off to donate to Locks Of Love. That means a min. of 10 inches each! I'm already getting cold feet. Not about my own hair but about Jenevieve's. She's been asking to get it cut and I've been dragging my feet about it because you all know how much I love her hair. She was upset with me when I told her she couldn't get it colored. She wanted it cut and colored like our neighbor's hair. I'm getting mine colored but c'mon, Jenevieve's only 4. I'm not going to let her color her hair. So, be watching for some before and after pictures on here tomorrow afternoon. I know I'm going to cry like a baby when she gets it cut. Heck, I cried the last time I cut 12 inches off my hair. Of course I was pregnant at the time and a bit emotional. LOL

I really haven't been trying to ignore my blog, I just hadn't been able to get logged in for some reason. :(

BUT, I'm back and ready to update you on all the craziness lately. We finally got a call from the contractor saying they are ready to start working on the house. He said it could be as early as tomorrow (the 11th) but most likely they will start on Monday. They are going to start with the garage first (siding, roof, new garage door and gutters) and then will do the roof on the house. After that they will begin replacing the windows, painting trim and doing the kitchen. That's when we'll have to leave the house and be relocated. We still have no idea where we'll be relocated to or for how long.

Kyle celebrated his birthday over the weekend. We had 2 parties in one day but it was fun. First we had a party for him and a couple friends at McDonalds in the playplace. Unfortunately only 2 kids came so he was bummed but the 2 that came are the kids he plays with the most so I figure at least his true friends were there. McDonalds provided cake, ice cream and a small drink for the kids with the package so it was a complete b-day party. After that we went to the park for his 2nd party. We had reserved the pavillion but the city goofed up and never came and hung up the sign saying it was reserved. So when we arrived there was already another large group set up there. We decided to let the kids run around and play for a bit and then we all headed to our house to grill out and have supper. Jason grilled some fresh asparagus and Mike fried up morels for us. Super yummy! Kyle was spoiled rotten with birthday presents and has many thank yous to write. It was a great day!

As many of you have probably already heard, my brother broke his foot in a 4-wheeler accident. And not just a little break either. He actually had a bone sticking up through the top of his foot! He had to have surgery and is now the owner of a metal plate and 6 screws. THEN, to top things off, after surgery he had an allergic reaction to the pain medicine they gave him and broke out in hives. He's recovering pretty well and is going in today to hopefully get a cast put on. But the hives are still very irritating and add to his discomfort. So keep him in your thoughts and say a prayer for a fast recovery.

I have more updates to write a bit later but Jenevieve has preschool and I need to get her hair done so we can go. That's a battle in itself. :(

I'll be back a bit later to write more and add some pictures and recent scrapbook pages. Bye for now!
