quick update

The kids and I have been at my dad's since Monday night since we got the boot out of the house. The kids are enjoying seeing their grandpa although with his work schedule the way that it is we only get to spend about 3 1/2 hours with him a day. We have some fun plans for this weekend though so that'll be good. Plus Jason's coming out to see us and I'm anxious for that. I'm starting to miss him already. :)
I think I must be having some anxiety about the house project because I had a crazy dream last night about how the guys who come to do the lead test keep finding things that the workers messed up. lol It was one of those goofy dreams where I was in my house in the dream but it didn't look anything like our real house. Totally different kitchen and the room that was super messed up was one that we don't even have in our house. Gotta love the craziness of dreams.

I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to do today to entertain the kids. They are getting a bit bored since there aren't any kids here in this neighborhood for them to play with. We went to the park on Tuesday and they ran around with some kids there. We'll probably go again today. But even that only holds their attention for so long. There are other fun things out here that we could go do but I don't want to spend a fortune paying to get into various things. We're thinking about going to the pool either today or tomorrow so that'll be good too. I figure I don't know anyone out here so who cares if they see my pale white flab? LOL

I forgot to add a couple scrapbook pages that I made a week or two ago so I'll add them today. One if of Jenevieve as a little thing and the other of Julia from Memorial Day weekend at Eagle Point Park. Both use my newest kit called Clara's Closet. :)

I talked to Jason last night and asked what all had been done to the house so far. He said that the garage door is on, the windows are all in and now they are starting to paint the trim around the windows. They are guessing that the lead test will happen on either Tues. or Wed. and if all goes well we'll be able to come home after that. Yay! As much as I love being here with Dad I also REALLY want to be home and back into the normal routine of things. The kids haven't been sleeping well here and therefore neither have I. Something that no one who has to deal with me wants to have happen. I'm quite the bear! I'm just looking forward to get our house put back together and hopefully make it look nice for once. I feel a major purge coming on. Lots and lots of stuff is destined for the garbage.

Well, that's about it for now. If I think of something else I'll post it. Have a great day!
p.s. Found a couple more layouts that I hadn't shared yet. The orange/yellow/green one uses Brenda Kempf's Sherbert a la Bling kit. And the top one is a picture of grandma Notz's 8th grade graduation using a kit by Angela Sharrow.

Misc. updates

The work is continuing around here. Still a lot to do but I'm starting to see progress. All the roofs of the house are finished as is the garage. They had to sheet every single roof except for the garage which they weren't planning on having to do. But when they discovered the steel roof on the house they didn't have a choice. And other roof lines still had cedar shakes on them. They are getting ready to start putting the siding on the garage soon. It's going to look SO different from it's ragged old condition. Marty (our contractor) worked on setting the bottom kitchen cabinets yesterday. Not only is our poor old house not square in the corner it's REALLY not square! There's a huge gap between the wall and countertop at the one end. And unfortunately I don't think there's much that can be done about it. Plus in order to get the cupboards level on our sloping floor they had to be raised up quite a bit off the floor so we'll also have to raise the stove to balance it all out. Not quite what I'd hoped for but nothing can be done about it. At least nothing that doesn't cost a small fortune to do. Hopefully the toe kick will help hide some of that :(
I'll add a picture of how things look so far. Obviously the top cupboards aren't hung yet and the picture really doesn't do the room justice. The cupboards have a really pretty color to them and aren't as dark as the picture makes them look. The new window is in but Jason needs to trim it out yet. The countertops are just laid in place right now. And the sink isn't in yet. I'm getting anxious to have a sink again. I'm getting tired of washing dishes in the bathroom sink. It's just a shallow pedestal sink so it doesn't work very well. And our bathtub is upstairs so using that is a pain too. I'm ready to have my house back and in working order! So far they haven't given us a definite date of when we have to be out so that they can begin working on the windows. I'm guessing it'll be before too long though.

Today is Kyle's last day of kindergarten. I can't believe how fast the year went! He's excited about summer break. More than I am I must admit. Having no breaks from either of these munchkins is going to wear me out. LOL Blows my mind to think that by this fall I'll have a 1st grader! The kindergarten classes had a pool party on Monday at the city pool. They had a blast! Then yesterday the kindgarten classes got taken to the ice cream shop. I'd say they are getting spoiled at the end of the year! :)

Well, I guess that's about it for now. Thanks for stopping by to read this!
